How long does it take to complete the Moonshine tour?
For the MOONSHINE tour, you should plan to spend approximately 2 hours with us. The tour is approximately 90 minutes in length, plus additional time for check-in, orientation, training and transport to and from our course.
What if I am afraid of heights?
It is not uncommon to have a fear of heights. Many people who have a fear of heights are still able to enjoy our zip line tours. You will be clipped to a 1/2 inch steel cable at all times when you are off the ground. Our professional employees are thoroughly trained in zip line course procedures, and will be with you throughout the entire course to answer all your questions, and provide support.
How high will I be off the ground?
During the Moonshine tour you will be anywhere from 0 feet to 70 feet above the ground.
What should I wear?
You will need to wear close-toed shoes (such as tennis shoes). Wear comfortable clothing, but please avoid loose clothing (no scarves, etc.). Long hair needs to be tied back. Women should not wear skirts. Short shorts are not recommended, as they are not comfortable while wearing your harness. Dress for the weather forecasted. We do operate in the rain, so please be prepared. Please do not wear any dangling jewelry. Also, please remove all things from your pockets, such as cell phones and wallets. You don’t want them falling out during the tour. We do have a secure place to store your valuables, but we prefer that you leave valuables at home or locked in your car. Hocking Hills Canopy Tours is not responsible for property lost, damaged, or stolen during your tour.
Do you operate in the rain?
Yes, we operate in the rain. However, the course will be closed if there is lightning activity in the area. We will also close for high winds. If we know in advance that we will be closed, we will try to contact you at the contact number you provided to us when you booked your tour. If your tour is canceled due to weather, you can either rebook for another time, or we will refund your tour cost.
What if it is too cold outside?
Please be aware in November, the temperature can be quite cold. Zipping in the cold is fun, if you are dressed for the weather. We recommend that you layer your clothing. Based upon the temperature we recommend you consider wearing long underwear, wool socks, warm cap, warm jacket, glove liners (full gloves will not fit under the gloves you will be required to wear to zip), and ski outerwear, face mask (if very cold). We have “hot hands” and glove liners for sale at the course. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the office.
How safe is it?
All adventure activities done above the ground carry certain inherent risks. We have taken numerous steps to mitigate these risks. Our course was built to meet or exceed ACCT professional building standards. Our guides are professionally trained and our equipment is very high quality. The course and equipment are inspected daily.
What if I have never done a zip line course before?
The majority of our participants have never done a zip line course before. Don’t worry, your guides will give you a complete orientation and training session before we take you on the course. The training session includes a short zip a few feet off the ground, so you will know what it feels like before you go out onto the course.
Do you have group rates?
Yes. We offer group rates for groups of 9 or more participants.
What is your cancellation policy?
See the Cancellation Policy above.
Will I be in a group with my friends/family?
We can take up to 9 participants per zip line tour. If you have a group of 9 or less and have reserved a tour at the same date/time, you will zip together. If your group is larger, please contact us and we may be able to make special arrangements for your group.
Who can zip on the zip line tour?
The zip line tour is designed for use by participants of average mobility and strength, and who are in reasonably good health. No children under the age of 10 or weighing less than 70 pounds will be allowed to participate in our zip line tour. Children between the ages of 10 – 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Weight range for all participants is between 70 to 250 pounds. Please call if you have any questions regarding weight limits. Each participant must be physically able to control the speed of their travel along the zip lines by grasping the cable with leather gloves. Participants must also be able pull themselves along the zip cable a few feet in the event they lose momentum before reaching any given landing platform. For additional information see the Qualifications for Participation.
What equipment will I wear on the course?
You will be fitted with a full body harness, a trolley system, 2 lanyards with safety clips, gloves, and a helmet. The equipment is similar to rock climbing equipment, but specially designed for a zip line course.
Can I bring my camera?
You are welcome to bring your camera. Cameras with a strap can be secured onto your harness by your guides.
How can I pay? What if I don’t have a credit card?
You can pay for your tour on-line through our secure payment site, with a Visa, Discover card or MasterCard. If you do not have one of these cards, you can send a check or money order, but we must receive payment 14 days prior to your tour date. If you are nearby, you could also come into our clubhouse office and pay for your tour in cash.
Can I celebrate a special occasion?
Yes. Let us know ahead of time, or when you arrive for your tour, and we will make sure to honor your special occasion. We have indoor and outdoor seating for groups. There is a snack bar with sandwiches, chips, candy, ice cream sodas and beer (no Sunday alcohol sales) available. You are welcome to bring your own celebration cake.
When do I need to arrive for my tour?
You must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time. This will give you enough time to check-in and prepare for your tour. If you are not checked in at least 5 minutes prior to your tour time, your space may be given away to another participant.
Are reservations required?
Reservations are recommended for our zip line tours. Each one of our tour groups is limited to 9 participants and requires two guides. To enable us to provide you with the best experience, we recommend reservations. If you do not have a reservation, we will do our best to accommodate you on a space available basis.
Do your employees accept tips?
Yes, while it's not required, it is very much appreciated. We provide an employee appreciation box where you may leave a tip for your team. Our employees are professional trained to ensure that you have a educational, enjoyable, and memorable experience. Should you feel inclined to leave a tip, the industry standard is 10%.
